The Las Vegas Business press is reporting that the famed Moulin Rouge hotel/casino has a reconstruction deal in place and could see construction beginning in 2009.

For a background of the Moulin Rouge, including a ton of renderings of various failed attempts to resurrect the property, check out our feature article The Neon Dream: The Moulin Rouge.

I scraped together a coupla renderings from the website of the architect, Ed Vance and Associates for your perusal.

God, I hope this happens!

The renderings are BEAUTIFUL. I don't think it's gonna happen. the location is rough. The locals don't care & the hip like us reading this site aren't enough to keep it going. I asked the valet at Main Street Station where the Moulin Rouge was in August of this year. He had no clue, but he asked a supervisor. The supervisor was equally clueless, they didn't know what I was talking about, even though it's maybe a half mile away. I finally found it in October and my wife took my picture in front of the entrance (The gate was open). The logo is still one of the top 5 in Las Vegas history. The Binion house sits stripped and forlorn just a few blocks west, for sale to be removed. It's had no takers in a year. I'm afraid the Moulin Rouge is in the same boat.
