Wireless Gaming Device Beta Coming to Venetian - H4XOR5 R3J01C3!

The Review-Journal is reporting that the wireless gaming devices will begin a beta test at The Venetian in November 2007. Hand held devices have been developed by Cantor Gaming, a subsidiary of investment firm Cantor Fitzgerald.

This short beta test of the Cantor wireless platform is scheduled to coincide with the G2E Global Gaming Expo which will be held in November. Currently, only attendees of the G2E show staying at the Venetian will be part of the beta test of Cantor's $400M wireless gaming system. No public beta is currently scheduled. Wireless gaming has been approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission, in theory, but approval for a beta based out of the Venetians high-limit slot room is pending.

This sure opens up a whole pandoras box about security. If hackers can smash through Apple's semi-bulletproof software architecture to reprogram iPhones to work on any wireless carrier, it is incredibly doubtful that Cantor G&W - a novice technology service company with little experience developing software solutions - has the know how and foresight to keep these wireless area gaming (WAG) devices safe from prying command liners.

This further makes me wonder about how 'wireless security' will become an even greater component to gaming control. Will the hotel begin monitoring Wi-Fi connectivity through their networks? Will you not be allowed to carry lap tops into certain areas of the hotels? And eventually other mobile devices such as iPhones as they become even powerful?

When they invent more ways for people to lose in the casino, they event twenty-fold more ways for cheaters to ply their trade.

Much like with slot machines replacing table games as the dominate device on the casino floor, wireless gaming will further reduce employee rolls, as you won't need as many dealers. Another plus is that you can get your players to do something you never thought was possible, gamble from their rooms.

we all need to get laid don't we?

Anyone want to guess how long until they hack one of these things?
