MGM Grand Detroit Opens New Hotel
The MGM Grand Detroit opened last night amidst large fanfare and fireworks display. They've got a big ass hotel and a bunch of restaurants that are operated by Michael Mina and Wolfgang Van Halen Puck.
Billed as the first Vegas-style resort built in a major metropolitan area, MGM Grand includes 400 rooms and suites, a full-service resort spa and a 17-story hotel with electronic concierges in each room. It sits a block from the temporary casino it opened it 1999.
We got any Detroiters in the house?

Comments & Discussion:
Haven't been there to check it out yet, I'll wait until the insanity dies down - opening night, the traffic was backed up for 2 miles on the local expressway that leads to the main entrance. The local TV stations all ran 30 minute infomercials over the weekend showing the restaurants, hotel, spa, and meeting areas - but not the casino floor itself. I'm just glad the place is finally open! I'll let you know what $800 million gets you in Detroit these days.
