David Bowie In Talks To Become Vegas Headliner

One of Robin Leach's 15 Las Vegas blogs is reporting that rock legend David Bowie is an eyelash close to signing a long term contract with AEG, the folks who manage The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

AEG has been contracted to handle the bookings for the showroom at Stardust replacement Echelon Place. While it may seem odd that Echelon Place would announce its new headliner barely months after the Stardusts' carcass was imploded, I am reminded that MGMMirage floated the Elvis/Cirque du Soleil pairing shortly after the Boardwalk was demolished.

This pre-announcement PR move is surely takes a page from Apple Inc.'s hype factory for their fancy new iPhone. Hell why not put up some billboards at the Echelon Construction site with the great David Bowie beckoning visitors to bookmark his opening two plus years in advance.

Whether or not this rumor pans out, this is the best headliner announcement since Prince set up camp for a coupla months at the Rio. Anything to balance out the ramping onslaught of Bette Midlermania is ok with us.
