Note To Self: When Moving Across The Country, Don't Park Moving Van Filled With All My Stuff The Venetian's Parking Lot

Apparently Vegas-based theives have been targeting move-it-yourself trucks parked in casino parking lots... the latest being at the Venetian. So if you find yourself moving across the country and you like your stuff, you might want to skip that stop in Vegas you were thinking about.

What's stolen in Vegas apparently stays in Vegas.

Some possessions of a Geneva family that was moving cross-country last November have been recovered after a sting operation by Las Vegas police.

Two people were arrested Feb. 24 and an investigation found several Las Vegas storage lockers that were filled with personal items from moving trucks stolen from casino parking lots along the Strip.

"We know something's there. It makes you feel good. It makes you feel better that the guys who did this are in jail," said Justin Kryzston, a 2000 Geneva High School graduate. "What we really want (back) are pictures, home videos and other mementos. Hopefully those things are all still there."

The Geneva family moved to California in November and loaded all their possessions into a 26-foot rental truck to drive west.

They stopped at the Venetian Hotel Nov. 25 to spend the night and have some fun.

The next morning, they returned to a fenced, guarded parking lot and the truck, along with a 1999 Jeep Cherokee it was towing, were missing.

In a semi-related story, we were tipped off a while ago about theives in the Wynn Las Vegas parking lot prying expensive-to-replace emblems off of luxury cars. No doubt these emblems have been gold plated and turned into bling. Do yourself a favor and valet park your car... it's free.
