Norm: Michael Jackson To Ink Vegas Contract

Norm Clarke at the Review-Journal is reporting that Michael Jackson is set to ink a long term residency with a major resort in Las Vegas. This isn't the first time this rumor has been floated, but the R-J has updated the story to say that the King of Pop has LANDED in Las Vegas on Christmas eve with his children in tow.

Reclusive superstar Michael Jackson arrived in Las Vegas late Saturday to begin a comeback in a city famous for reviving careers. Jackson and his three children arrived by private plane about 10:30 p.m. Saturday after a flight from Dublin, Ireland.

Now, lets think about this a second. If this were to be true, where could Michael possibly set up shop. It won't be a small joint and it won't be an arena. Lets talk about some possibilities...

Bellagio - they don't have the facilities to stage it.
Mirage - they've got LOVE and Danny Gans... maybe Gans is a goner?
Treasure Island - Mystere is there.
MGM Grand - Could the Hollywood Theater become the Michael Jackson Theatre? Possibly.
NYNY - Forget it.
LuXor - They've been tinkering with entertainment quite a bit at the pyramid, and there are major renovation, reconstruction rumors flying around.
Mandalay Bay - Event Center? Too Big. House of Blues - not gonna happen.
Tropicana, Hooters, Casino Royale, El Cortez etc - all have a good chance to land MJ. Yeah right.
Rio - Prince won't stand for it.
Palms - Doubtful.
Harrah's, IP, Flamingo, Ballys - No... their futures are in doubt.
Paris - The Producers is on its way early next year. They don't have any other spaces.
Aladdin/ Planet Hollywood - MJ could be installed up as a grand opening gala run of a year or two. Possible?
New Frontier - Nope.
Venetian - The Venetian's dance card is all filled up with newly aquired acts.
Wynn Las Vegas - Spamalot is getting ready to joust, and Le Reve seems like its never going to die. We doubt that Wynn has the thump to hire Michael Jackson... but anything can happen.
Circus-Circus, Riviera, Sahara, Stratosphere - These places don't have the cash flow to hook up this kinda deal.
Las Vegas Hilton - The Hilton just extended Manilow's contract. Could they install MJ as a co-headliner and schedule between and around Barry's current contract? Very doubtful.
Caesars Palace - An interesting possibility. Celine is obviously tired of the Vegas run... she wants to give birth - her contract is up in 2007. Her Colosseum counterpart, Elton John, will be performing The Red Piano into 2008.

To narrow it down, we're gonna call out Caesars Palace (5-1), MGM Grand (8-1) and Aladdin/Planet Hollywood (12-1) as the front runners.
