New Zealand Casino Closed Because Patron Lost 6.6M

From the "Hrmm... that's weird dept." comes this lovely little nugget. Apparently the Duneden Casino in New Zealand was forced to close by its local Gambling Commission because it didn't do enough to stop a problem gambler from losing 6.6M New Zealand dollars.

Makes me wonder if it would be possible to get the Venetian to close for 10 minutes next time I lose my puny $500 bankroll in their suckful casino.

The Dunedin Casino is closed on Monday and Tuesday after it had its licence suspended for failing to take adequate action over a problem gambler.

Christine Keenan turned over $6.6 million at the casino over three years and was eventually jailed for stealing almost half-a-million dollars from her employer to fund her habit.

The Gambling Commission last month imposed a two day suspension, saying the casino failed to comply with the Gambling Act.
