Gambling Via Mobile Device Coming to Venetian

In the soon-to-be "old days" - the closest thing a casino had to gambling via mobile device was the Keno Runner who pesters you while waiting for your steak and eggs to arrive. Word is coming that the Venetian will be rolling out gambling via mobile devices very very soon, with a full launch in 2007.

What does this really mean? Is gambling itself the thrill, or is it the social aspect? Gambling via mobile device inside a casino? We're very curious how this is going to shake out.

From Gizmodo.com:

The Las Vegas Sands Corporation is going to be the first Las Vegas hotel company to use mobile gambling in their casinos. The Venetian will be the first casino to ustilize these devices. They will allow persons to play blackjack, roulette, poker and slots for real money on a mobile platform. The gambling devices will be provided by the hotel, but there is a bit of a catch. The Nevada Gaming Commission regulations state that mobile gambling can only take place in public areas of the casinoŚnot in hotel rooms or other private areas.
