Much like Jed Clampett from one of his favorite television shows, Gerald Wade struck the jackpot by doing one of the things he enjoys the most.

Wade, a tow truck driver from Murfreesboro, became an instant millionaire Saturday playing The Beverly Hillbillies 1-cent progressive slot machine at the Fitzgerald's Casino Hotel in Tunica, Miss.

"They always tease me about watching 'Beverly Hillbillies' every morning," he said. "But that is the first time I have played that machine." Something told him he would win if he played the machine that day, Wade said. "It was my time to hit," he said.

Wade had been playing the machine for five minutes and had wagered $20 before hitting the $1.4 million jackpot. He has frequented Tunica casinos for years, he said, sometimes making the trip twice a month.
