Downtown Gordie Brown Moves Uptown to Venetian
As been rumored for months, Geordie Brown has jumped from the Golden Nugget to a new theater at the Venetian. Too bad hanging out at the Venetian is about as inviting as a punch in the face. Here's a little profile from Geordies hometown newspaper in Ottawa, Canada eh.
Ottawa entertainer Gordie Brown is going from downtown Las Vegas to a prime spot on the Strip, signing a multi-year deal with The Venetian Hotel, it was announced yesterday.
The 43-year-old singer/impressionist moves into a newly built showroom at the Venetian in early August performing 10 shows per week. The singer was at the Golden Nugget hotel in "downtown" Las Vegas until last month, but the move to one of the premier hotels on the Strip is a huge step.
"This means everything to me and it's certainly a dream come true," Mr. Brown said yesterday from Las Vegas, where he moved nearly 20 years ago.
"Being on the (Las Vegas) Strip is where I always wanted to be," said Mr. Brown, who will perform in a new 800-seat hotel showroom directly across the street from Celine Dion's show at Caesar's Palace.
He said having your name up in lights on a marquee on the Strip is the pinnacle for most entertainers. Mr. Brown said it's hard to imagine playing the Strip made famous by the Rat Pack and so many legendary performers.
