Rumor: Caesars Palace to Get Billion Dollar Upgrade
During our last trip out to Vegas we admired Caesars Palace from our 27th Floor Room at the Flamingo. The Gleaming Augustus tower dwarfs what looks like a hotel built in the 60s (which it was). We never really noticed the actual dingyness of Caesars and the piss poor strip-facing layout of the propertys front area. It appears that Harrah's is seeing the same things too, and are planning a $1 Billion dollar upgrade to the venerable Vegas Landmark.
From Las Vegas Gaming Wire:
Plans are afoot for a $1 billion expansion of Caesars Palace, with an announcement due in four or five months, street sources say. The new Augustus Tower already is increasing foot traffic and returns on investment in the casino, but scuttlebutt is that owner Harrah's Entertainment is confident quality can be increased and more high rollers can be reeled in with a top-flight expansion. Caesars Palace has been a landmark on the Strip for 40 years, but insiders say you haven't seen anything yet.
