Harrah's Entertainment Inc. , which has begun a $550 million expansion at one of its Atlantic City casinos, plans to invest further in the New Jersey gambling haven, the company's chief executive said on Thursday.

"This is the first of several announcements that you'll hear over the next few months," Loveman said.

The new entertainment complex at Harrah's Atlantic City will expand the casino's gaming and other facilities and will feature a 964-room hotel tower, which is expected to open in the second quarter of 2008.

Speaking about other opportunities back home, Loveman said he thought there was still room for growth in Las Vegas and that Harrah's would announce its development plans there in mid-summer.

"We are not discouraged at all by the supply there," he said. But he said that the space of upscale hotels was getting crowded and the company would factor that into its Las Vegas plans.
