Flu shots for Casino Workers
LAS VEGAS Southern Nevada's top health official is criticizing a casino company for distributing scarce flu shots to employees while other companies are donating vaccines to those in high-risk groups.
Doctor Donald Kwalick says most corporations are cooperating with efforts to find enough vaccines for the very young, the elderly and those with chronic health problems.
Workers at Mandalay Resort Group's Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay hotel-casinos were offered shots last week.
Mandalay Bay says it felt fulfilling a commitment to those who counted on getting flu shots at work wouldn't hurt the community.
Kwalick credits M-G-M Mirage for donating four-thousand vaccine shots to southern Nevada nursing homes, cancer treatment centers and dialysis centers.
The Venetian also says it's donating its 600-shot supply to the public.
