The Las Vegas Club downtown has closed their sports book. The Vegas Club without a Sportsbook is like Binions without poker. Here's the story from the Las Vegas Business Press:

To gaming experts and analysts, the closure of the race and sports book at the Vegas Club is perceived as a casualty of downtown Las Vegas' losing battle for market share. But to those who appreciate the legacy of the casino and its founder, Mel Exber, the Vegas Club without a sports book is like a schooner without sails.

[ Mel Exber ] worked at sports books at several old Strip and downtown hotels, and was credited as an innovator of parlay cards and the inventor of football teaser cards. Mel Exber is credited with making the Las Vegas Club sports book a haven for fanatics and celebrities alike.
