General Motors, The Sahara and the Las Vegas Monorail are joining forces right here in the Las Vegas Valley. Tuesday morning the three companies announced plans to build on the 11 acre parcel of land near Sahara and Paradise.

General Motors is labeling it "Autotainment," a GM sponsored high performance test track that will be open to the public. It'll be called "The Drive" where the public can test drive 15 different GM vehicles.

A performance course will feature hard tops and convertibles and a second course will be an off road trail where you'll be able to test drive full size SUV's.

"The Drive" is expected to open in the Spring of 2006. The historic 80 foot Sahara sign was torn down Monday to make room for the new track; that sign is now headed to the bone yard of the Neon Museum.
