Viva Lake Tahoe!
While Las Vegas spent the past few months roasting in temperatures well over 100 degrees, sweating residents were peppered with television ads promoting Lake Tahoe as an inviting vacation destination less than two hours away — and a whole lot cooler.
"Lake Tahoe. So Close. So Cool," a $400,000 television, print and billboard campaign sponsored by the casino-backed Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority, began airing in June.
It features two women lounging at Tahoe deciding where to relax next — on the golf course, at a casino or wakeboarding. Thought bubbles illustrate the choices. Their backs are to the camera, which focuses on the clear blue lake and a snowcapped mountains beyond.
