The Las Vegas Sun is reporting on the latest meeting of the Nevada Gaming Commission:

The Gaming Commission also approved Navegante, a company managed by veteran gaming executive Larry Woolf, to immediately start operating the Plaza, Gold Spike, Las Vegas Club and Western Hotel, all in downtown Las Vegas.

The Tamares Group is acquiring the hotels from Barrick Gaming Investments, in what Tamares Group executive Michael Treanor described as "a huge opportunity." He added the deal is "as good as it gets."

Gaming Commissioner Art Marshall praised the decision to have Woolf operate the clubs, saying, "I can't think of a better doctor to heal this patient."
