Nobody Rides The Monorail
Las Vegas Monorail ridership declined again in November -- to a daily average of less than 26-thousand people.
That's about half what administrators projected when the 650 (M) Million dollar system started operating in July 2004.
The monorail took in a little under 76-thousand dollars a day in ticket revenues and carried a little more than 773-thousand riders last month.
Promoters had hoped the monorail would attract 19 million to 20 million passengers a year, or more than 52-thousand a day.

Comments & Discussion:
The monorail project showed great promise. However, Las Vegas is forgetting too quickly what brought them to the party... Cheap and FREE!!!
The old monorail from mgm to ballys was free. and used a lot!!! there were seats for everyone.
New monorail costs too much per trip. sometimes you can't get on the monorail quickly enough, before the doors close! this happened to me in the last week of december. in the time it took for the people to get off... the doors closed before any new passengers could get on. how can you expect to get more riders if they can't get on????
Back to cheap and free. part of the fun of vegas and the main draws was great cheap eats....all replaced with high cost gourmet dumps... this aint new york city. Bring back the good deals on meals!
Another thing, the odds have been too grossly adjusted in the favor of the house. 6/5 blackjack shufflemaster redealing after every hand. no 9/6 jacks or better machines???
The drain on the slots are so embarrising .... why not just put out an oil drum with a slot in the top??? I saw so many losers this trip...
maybe las vegas should rename itself Welchers Valley.... because they are creating a real jam for themselves with their selklfish corporate greed!
