Mirage - The Real Deal :
Buyer beware - all MGM Resorts properties charge the highest resort fees (nearly $40/night) plus a $10 per day fee to self-park your car. VegasTripping suggests you find alternate accommodations.
The Mirage... oh what a story you tell. You redefined the very meaning of the Las Vegas resort while dutifully serving as the main engine powering Steve Wynn's fantastic dreams of Disney in the Desert. Taken over by MGM Inc. shortly after the turn of the millennium, you languished uncared for until MGM Mirage invested hundreds of millions of dollars renovating all of your public areas, casino and hotel rooms. Now, 20 years after your opening, you are brand new second hand.
Location of Mirage:
Right in the center of the Strip. A walkway connects the Mirage to Treasure Island - to us they seem like one giant Casino. Different, but not much.

Mirage History
Opened on November 22, 1989 at a then staggering cost of $630 million bucks, the Mirage is one of the crown jewels of the Las Vegas Strip. The once and future (?) home of Sigfried and Roy-Boy, hosts the Beatles show LOVE, an Aquarium, Dolphin Habitat, a giant Volcano and a shit-load of slot machines.
The Rooms at Mirage
The Mirage completed a major redesign of all of its hotel rooms during the Summer of 2008. VT's 2009 hotel room review, 2007 review of the old rooms here - they're pretty dated and kinda gross. The new rooms at Mirage - reviewed here - are almost a bit over-the-top in their decor, but still groovy.
Restaurants at Mirage
The Mirage offers 6 types of fine dining restaurants - Japonais, Stack, Fin, >Kokomo's, Onda Ristorante, Samba Brazilian Steakhouse, BLT Burger (yummzers) Cravings (buffet) Paradise Cafe (Cafe) a CPK (yuk), the Dolphin safe Dolphin Snack Bar and a non-Starbucks/Peets coffee joint
Mirage Tips
For those of us who prefer the company of animals, Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat offers white tigers, white lions, panthers, leopard and a dolphin habitat. Lush gardens add to the volcano out front and the 20,000-gallon saltwater aquarium at reception. While you are checking in, be sure to check out the angelfish, puffer fish, tangs, and sharks. Nice pool, too.
