The page here says there's no slot club card: untrue. I signed up and got a nice offers in the mail a couple of months later. I highly recommend the Bay City Diner. It must be under management of a real pro, because the food is top-rate diner food. I also love that the snack bar in the back has live entertainment. It's probably only in the evenings, but the pianists I've heard there are great. They're old-fashioned and jazzy and cool. Tips are well earned. I still haven't stayed here, though. One day I probably will.

Not fancy but has old-time style. Maybe the best diner on Fremont Street. Live pianists singing old standards at the snack bar in the back. They are great; don't forget to tip!

Golden Gate is an incredibly intimate, unbelievably charming and downright friendly joint to hang out in. I haven't sampled the rooms yet, but the staff - dealers, cage, security, diner and snack bar - are awesome. Golden Gate is a breath of fresh, yet 100 year old, air in the age of monolithic casino hugeness.

Old Vegas fo shizay! It was way cool hanging out at this joint. Had a real old western gambling hall feel. It was kind dead when we were there, but it was 2:30AM on a Monday morning.

I have never stayed at the Golden Gate....pretty sure I never will. But every time I make the trip to Las Vegas, I have to go here. The cheap Roulette and Black Jack can not be beat. Staggering out of the Golden Gate at 2:00 am, after playing Roulette for an hour with the same $20 is the best.

Perfect place to get a snack while stumbling around downtown. Fun, intimate casino with low limits.

It's not too bad of a hotel (especially considering the $19.06/night rate I snagged). The rooms (all recently renovated) are fairly nice (although my queen room was a bit tiny, but perfect for a solo tripper), the bed is comfy, there was a very comfy chair right near the bed (you could lounge in the chair and use the bed as an ottoman), the TV is a modern LCD TV (They could have gone with a cheap no-name brand, but opted for LG TVs [Perhaps at a discount since the FSE Viva Vision screen is from LG]), and the clock radio is one with an iPod dock. The "prison chic" bathroom has been slightly updated, but still has the narrow closet of a shower and a door that must be closed in order to use the toilet.

My first hotel, back when I was a Vegas Virgin. Paid $15 a nite for it, looked right out just under the Freemont Puppet Show. We didn't know what was going on when it started, I was asleep and thought the world was ending. Nice room, cheap, good location if yer into old skool.

Rooms are tiny and old. Hallways are tilted, don't go upstairs drunk. Staff friendly and nice, food is wonderful both at the deli and cafe. Slots fun and semi-loose. A good Vegas experience, should be checked out by everyone.
