History of Gold Coast

One of the family of Coast Casinos, The Gold Coast was purchased by Boyd Gaming in 2004.

How are the rooms at Gold Coast?

Gold Coast offers three types of rooms - standard, premium and deluxe. Your best bet is definitely the Premium rooms which were remodeled in 2008. All of the Gold Coast' room are pretty small - 360 square feet - but are still very well put together and pack a lot of bang for their buck. Premium rooms feature 32" flat panel TVs, free local and toll free calls, wifi and free shuttle service to the strip. Gold Coast is probably one of the best deals you're going to get in Vegas.

What restaurants are at Gold Coast?

Gold Coast features seven dining options including the Cortez Room casual restaurant, a little more upscale than a cafe, but not as fancy as the high priced restaurants at all the other hotels. Chinese cafe Ping Pang Pong - which is one of the best restaurant names ever! Monterey Room - 24 hour cafe. Ports O'Call Buffet - prices range from $6 breakfast to $12 dinner. They also offer a Sunday Brunch ($11) and a delicious seafood buffet on Friday night ($17). If you don't have a Club Coast card, the price is a coupla bucks higher. It pays to get a card! Other noshables include a Seattles Best Coffee, Kate's Corner for ice cream and sweets and a TGIFridays too!

Where is Gold Coast Located?

Gold Coast is located on Flamingo Road, 1 mile west of the Strip. Its a bit out of the way, but if you're looking to Party at the Palms and don't want to pay top dollar... this is a great option. Rio and Palms are within walking distance, but please be careful crossing the street!

Exclusive Tips for Gold Coast:

Gold Coast has a free casino shuttle for guests which stops off at the Orleans (for concerts at the Orleans Showroom and Arena) and at Bill's Gamblin Hall and Saloon on the strip next to the Flamingo.

If you're going to travel this far off the strip, why stop in this dump when the Palms is across the street?

My Rating: 5

....to answer the question of the previous reviewer: I booked a room at the Gold Coast because it costed about $200 less than the Palms. Since it is right accross the street, I can still enjoy everything the Palms and the Rio have to offer without the costly room charge. I hear that the rooms at the Palms are nothing special anyway.

My wife and I loved the Gold Coast. There was plenty of free parking in the ramp. There was no line when we checked in Friday afternoon, Nov 16th. We upgraded to a King Suite on the top floor (10th floor) when we checked in and the service personnel were all super friendly. Our room was great. I loved that little window in the shower. I could see the Rio and Treasure Island when I opened the window while I showered. Drink service for the whole casino was quick and efficient. We ate in the Monterey Room twice. Once for the Graveyard special ($2.55 for a complete breakfast after midnight) and once for the $10.95 T-bone special. We received excellent service both times and enjoyed the food. The Fun Book you receive at registration has several good coupons. Gold Coast has very nice gift shop/liquor store with reasonable prices. We stayed on the strip the last time we went to Vegas. Staying off-strip was better. There was nobody pushing escort service cards in our face, no one selling time shares or show tickets. We took the free shuttle to the strip Friday and walked from the Paris up to the Wynn stopping at all of the casinos on the east side of the strip. That was all we needed. Saturday we took the other free shuttle to the Orleans. We really enjoyed ourselves at the Orleans. We walked to the Rio for breakfast on Saturday morning and checked out the Palms accross the street on Saturday night. The Rio was nice, but the Palms was a little too swanky for our tastes. The Gold Coast had no surprises at check-out. We did the express check-out and our bill was $0.00.
