History of Fitzgeralds
Fitzgeralds is a stalwart of the Vegas Strip as well as downtown Reno. The Fitz originally opened in 1980 as "Sundance", but changed its name and partnered with Holiday Inn shortly thereafter. The place has been refurbished quite a bit in recent years and has a very devoted clientele who swear by the joint.
How are the rooms at Fitzgeralds?
Clean, non-skeevy rooms at a very good price. The Fitz' tower is thirty-two floors tall, so rooms above the downtown fray have a great view of the mountains, the Fremont Experience, the whole Vegas valley and the Strip off in the distance.
The Fitz offers 3 room options:
Standard - Bed, bath, tv, internet hookups. Clean and basic
Club 21 - Luxury accomodations include, turn-down service, an EZ-Boy, a shoeshine machine and a free newspaper in the morning. Nice touch.
Suites - Living Room, wet bar, dining room, fridge, sofa, EZ-boys, a spa/tub, turndown service, mints and a "daily inspirational card".
What restaurants are at Fitzgeralds?
Limericks Steakhouse offers standard casino steakhouse fare, reasonably priced. Molly's Buffet offers all you can gorge shrimp, and potato bar (plus all the other standard buffet vittles). On Friday they feature a special seafood buffet (all selections caught locally in the Las Vegas Desert - thats a joke - there's a good chance that the fish you're eating traveled farther to get to Vegas than you did. Think about it. )
The Shamrock Cafe is your basic diner. Nothing too fancy, but its mostly decent food. There's also a McDonalds onboard if you cant seem to shake that Big Mac attack. Krispy Kreme too.
Where is Fitzgeralds Located?
Right in the heart of the Fremont Street Experience... lots of action to the left and lots of action to the right. That may equivicate as being "the middle of the action."
Exclusive Tips for Fitzgeralds:
The Fitzgerald has an outdoor pool (one of the few in downtown) that is open till 9pm from May until October.

The casino is kind of dark and dingy. They still have some coin-out slot machines-definitely old school. The casino was loud and energetic @ 1 AM on a Monday morning. The wife won an extra $40 using $15 free slot play that she got in the mail. Overall a pretty good time.
