You Can't See All of Vegas In One Trip... Or Can You?

Potpourri Trip Report - Vegas Building Updates and Photos - April 2006

Posted by Chuckmonster

I ended up heading back to the strip, where construction at Sahara Blvd reduced the northbound strip to 1 lane. I did manage to snag a nice photo of Circus-Circus while sitting in the car (9:28pm.)

Downtown - 9:50pm

Arrived at Binions and thought about how many times Doyle Brunson has riden in that tincan 3 person max elevator they got. Damn that thing is small. Upon pounding the Fremont Street pavement I noticed that the areas surrounding Fremont street are really coming to life. With hip non-gambling joints such as the Triple George grill, Hogs & Heifers, Beauty Bar popping up like shrooms on shit, the future for downtown looks really great. The Neon Museum's restored pieces seem to have inspired a whole slew of new neon signage - definitely take a walk off Fremont street next time your there. Be careful if your heading down to El Cortez (10:03pm) - the neighborhood turns into mini-Reno for a coupla blocks.

Spent 30 minutes at the California playing Triple Double Diamond slots. I was beat and needed a breather - the booze kicked me back into shape and I took snaps of the rest of Fremont - Plaza, Main Street Station, Binions, Fremont, Four Queens and...

Lady Luck - 11:07pm

Lady Luck is completely closed. There was talk that the casino would stay operational while the hotel was being refurbished, but apparently that is not the case.

Mermaids 12:14pm

Mermaids slot parlor has a new sign on the side that says "topix". We're not really sure if they changed the name, but thats the sign outside.

All in one day? Still looking around for 15 yrs. Not talking about in my 20's in 1976. Have stayed at Caesers, Desert Inn, 1/2 nite at excalibur-yuk-, Mirage alot, Bellagio alot, Venetian-hated it-one nite,Circus- Circus 1 nite just to get away from my kids (true). and at this point Wynn-Wynn-Wynn and some more Wynn. Have seen alot of hotels, and have even lost weight from walking around so much when I wasn't gambling., Last trip a whale tipped me $500 for holding down 3rd base. He felt I played properly that in turn he won $25,000 in 6 hands. Had to have the dealer explain that to me. Had never been tipped by a player. Only in Vegas and u never know what u'll see or what will happen. I keep coming back! How can u possible see all of Vegas, yet experience it in one day. Impossible.
