Mandalay Bay The RockChickX51 Way
Spend a Night In The Shark Tank
VT superfriend RockChickX51 recently stayed at Mandalay Bay and brought back this photo fest of their new(ish) room offerings. Awesome! Big ups to RockChickX51 for taking the time to share! Take it away RockChick!
Let me just start off by saying I didn't choose this hotel. This hotel was obtained via Hotwire.com as a "hidden hotel" and the cost came out to $81 and change including taxes plus the $21 resort fee. We needed a room for one night before we moved to PHo Towers to get their upgrade special, which could only be obtained by checking in on a Sunday and we were arriving on a Saturday. I've only been inside Mandalay Bay maybe three times and never had any interest in staying there due to its location. This one night stay may have changed my mind though.
We arrived around 5:30pm it was already dark outside. After driving through the Four Seasons valet and back out to Las Vegas Blvd we finally found the entrance to Mandalay and of course valet was full.
But alas, since we were staying guests we did get to use valet and after sitting there for 30 minutes waiting on someone to get us, I got out to check us in while my dude waited in the car for valet. We would've self parked had we not already been wedged into a traffic jam and stuck.
Mandalay Bay's check in desk is really pretty. The red Christmas tree they had up set off the entire lobby and the shark tank is pretty spiffy as well.
Six check in desks were open and the lines were minimal. At check in I got friendly with the chick then asked for a room on a high floor, didn't care what the view was of as long as it wasn't of the parking garage. The girl checked and checked then finally said "I can do 2 queens on the 26th floor or 1 king with a view of the Strip on the 7th floor." I went with the lower floor (which proved to be a mistake, explained later) since I like having a big spacious bed on vacation. Gave me the keys, I turn around to see my dude standing there and off we go. We had to use three different elevators to get to our floor. The first two we got in had a "door close" malfunction and the doors would shut, then open right back up. So third one we tried worked.
As you step off the elevator there's an area to the left (or right depending on what way you get off) that contains a table, phone, and vases. Stepping out of the elevator landing to left (or right) the halls are set up a la Venetian. A round landing area with three hallways going in different directions. I meant to get a shot of the hallway but that didn't happen.
We get down to our room, click the door open and in we go.
