M Resort Construction Photos And Preview

Way Way Out, On The Southern Tip of Las Vegas Boulevard, Another Casino Sprouts Forth

Marnell Corrao has their work cut out for them if they plan on opening the property in May 2009. Judging by how quickly they've done what they've done, it looks like they'll probably have most, if not all, of the property ready for opening day.

The big question is, will M Resort offer enough pizazz and destination cache to entice Vegas visitors to forego checking into the Encore's, Palazzo's, City Center's, Fontainebleau's and the other spiffy new resorts coming online at roughly the same time.

It's hard to tell. South Point - another way south Strip property - seems to have gained some of its footing after its rough start culminated in Boyd Gaming selling it off barely a year after opening. M Resort, by contrast, is targeting the Red Rock/GVR market segment but doesn't have the players club database that Stations or Boyd (through Club Coast) can easily call on to drive local traffic. Possibly MGMMirage will be flagging locals in its Players Club and supplying it to M Resort as part of their partnership.

Since I usually drive past it on the way in and out of Vegas, I'll surely stop in at some point, but unless M Resort provides an experience that one can't get at any other property, it would be a tough sell to make it a regular stop.

So, would you be willing to take a 20 minute cab ride out to visit M Resort?
