VegasTripping Interview With Mark Adams from Vegas Today and Tomorrow

Talkin' Shop With Future Vegas' Amerigo Vespucci

Posted by Chuckmonster

VT: What did you do previously?

MA: I worked for a technology company called Smart Home that sells and manufactures devices to automate your home - the George Jetson house.

VT: So you've never been involved in technology or graphic design?

MA: No. I'm a photoshop hobbyist since I got my first copy of Photoshop in 98. I was pretty proficient in Photoshop and have always been into graphics. I knew my way around software as a hobbyist. I got my first computer in 1990 and am comfortable with software.

VT: How exactly do you ferret out details exactly what it is you are looking for?

MA: It depends on what I'm looking for. If its for an existing resort that is expanding, I'll go right to the PR office of the resort and try to develop a relationship with their people. Depending on the size of the company I'm working with, they're very limited in what they can tell me. They don't go outside of what they're allowed to reveal. I also go to forums on the internet where a lot of industry people are in the forums. There are people from construction companies, and architects that frequent the forums as well.

VT: Skyscraper City?

MA: Skyscraper Page and Skyscraper City, a couple of Las Vegas forums. Las Vegas Talk is more touristy... they talk about who serves the best cocktails and stuff like that.

VT: Which is important...

MA: Of course it is, but not for Vegas Today and Tomorrow. There's enough websites that talk about food and shows, I don't really need to go there. There's lots of resources out there, the daily newspapers, the Clark County Planning commission is a wealth of information. Plus the various architect and construction company websites also put a lot of information up about what they're doing as well. You put it all together and I can come up with a nice, concise explanation about what's going on on that property.

VT: So you sew information together from a lot of various sources, forums, PR, construction, architects.

MA: I want the facts. I boil it all down to the facts.
