The Horizon

Chuck and I went to Tahoe and without really knowing anything about the joints there, we picked Horizon as our hotel of choice. Maybe it was the sell of the 'biggest pool in Tahoe', the in-house movie theatre, or the McDonald and Cinnabon, but in the end, cost is what really made the choice for us. It was the cheapest.

And, it ended up really being the cheapest. The pool was the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel, the theater was not state of the art, but sorta charming in that 1970's cinema way. I did hit the McDonalds for a eggamuffin for Chuck's craving and smelled the cinnamon rolls, so that was awesome.

The worst of the whole hotel was that Sat night, right at about 8 pm the plumbing literally broke and half the casino was completely flooded. It was taped off for hours while the water soaked the carpet and ran out the doors, down the driveway and out into the street. We ended up spending a good deal of time at Harvey's listening to someone give a pitch about how they got a pitch of a time share.

some guy at the craps table threw a pile of green chips at me late one night after i hit and parleyed his yo bet. he said "get some green into your game." i promptly put it all down on the pass line when his turn came and he 7'd out on the second roll.

other than that, i'd have to say the Horizon is less than underwhelming. which is particularly a shame since Elvis played there regularly back when it was the Sahara Tahoe.
