Absinthe just announced that their production will leave Caesars Palace in October. Wynn just announced that Showstoppers is closing in September. Coincidence?

Some have suggested that it's headed to Cosmo, possibly moving to Rose.Rabbit.Lie (The unpleasantness between Cosmo and Spiegelworld over Vegas Nocturne was prior to Blackstone's deal to buy the property closing.).

Myself, I'm skeptical of whether the show can transition to another venue unless said venue is designed with them in mind, like the current Spiegeltent at Caesars. They do want a larger venue to perform in and that may be where decision to part ways with Caesars occurred. I'm sure that when the current venue was constructed nearly five years ago, nobody expected the show to be there that long. I know that they made a lot of improvements and additions to the tent to make it comfortable regardless of the weather.

Jersey Boys is closing in September too. Would the Jersey Boys theater at Paris work for Absinthe?

How many empty theaters does this make on the strip? Caesars Spiegeltent, Encore, Paris, Cosmopolitan, Bally's, Monte Carlo. Any others?

What will the casinos do with all of these empty theaters?

When Absinthe closes at Caesars, so does the Spiegeltent, as it was never intended to be a permanent venue.

Right now, there is no theater at Monte Carlo, as the huge replacement for it is under construction. Bally's is making some use out of the former Jubilee theater, as they're filming episodes of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire there.

Absinthe is at Caesars Palace for a few reasons, but the main one is that they are outside of the building. If Absinthe were inside of a casino, they would be regulated. This is something the creators did not want.

Wherever it will go, it will be outside (if they want to keep the same show style).

Absinthe wouldn't work in a theater like Showstoppers or Jersey Boys. It's supposed to be intimate and close.

I could see it in the plaza outside of Venetian.

Regardless of whether it's an indoor or outdoor venue on a casino's property, it's regulated. This is why if a casino has poolside gaming, they are required to allow non-hotel guests access to the pool area if they wish to gamble (although some use it as a ruse to access the pool without paying a non-hotel guest fee.). Absinthe pushed the boundaries a few times early on in its' run with some antics that caused Caesars executives to threaten to close the show because they didn't want the gaming control folks putting pressure on them.
