MA referrendum to stop casinos gets shot down

Yesterday, Massachusetts voters voted 60% to 40% to leave the MA casino law alone. This gives Wynn and MGM the green light to continue with their plans to construct resort casinos. I expect that we will all start to see and hear more about their proposals now that there is no chance that their licenses will be revoked.

Not surprised... I'm excited to check it out if/when it finally opens.

Somewhat related... a few days before voting, this photo appeared in the Wall Street Journal. Yes, I clipped the actual newspaper. #oldschool Anyways, read the caption and look at the photo.

Now look at that fancy plastic banner these grannies are holding. White print on black background stating "where" and "what" in the exact same advertising style as every Wynn billboard up and down the Las Vegas Strip.

Do you think these "Everett, Mass., residents" really had the graphic design skillz to perfectly ape Wynn's global branding rules and printed this thing up themselves? Of course not.

The slot parlor in Plainville, which was under construction this year, will open first...Steve has a $30 million task of cleaning a brownfield where a casino is supposed to go..

I was getting a Vote No on Question 3 mailing every single day in the final week before balloting...a different themed huge postcard mailing...these guys spent some serious cash...
