Popular Mechanics Cover Story on Vegas Security

The cover story of Popular Mechanics' January issue is devoted to Las Vegas casino security, and it's a good read. Most of the security tecniques will probably be familiar to anyone who's watched the Travel Channel's "Vegas: Cheaters Exposed" a hundred times (you know who you are). However, there are a few surprising revelations in the article.

For instance, did you know that the Mirage scans every license plate in their self park and valet park garages, and runs the plate numbers, looking for known cheaters, trouble-makers, and the like? There's also a blurb on Aria being the first Las Vegas casino to go to server based slots.

By the way, what ever happened to the Travel Channel's Vegas Week? It was my favorite week of TV.

I'll bet that the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority hasn't sent over the check to the Travel Channel yet. Or they're more interested in being a mobile version of the Food Network. I won't complain though as I love Anthony Bourdain's story spinning a helluva lot more than listening to Anthony whats his name shilling coupons and obsolete Vegas tips.

Every week is Vegas week here!

I've got an entire list of rants from when I was out there this past week that I'm going to post tomorrow.
But security last week was insane.
More on that later, it pissed me off beyond belief
