VIMFP Plans?

Hey everybody.

there hasn't been much chatter on the interwebs regarding the upcoming Vegas Internet Mafia Family Picnic...

Since i'm coming from NYC, i have to plan way in advance.

I'm having a bit of a personal dilemma with where to stay... I've got myself booked in a mostly comp'd FAB Lux room at the flaming-O (with the hopes of getting an upgrade to a GO). However, i'm also getting a decent offer for the same dates at the Rio. now, i picked the Flamo mainly for the pool, since the food options and casino there are, in my opinion, simply sub-par. right now it looks like i'm flying solo, so i don't *need* the extra space offered at Rio, but i stayed there last year and dug it for everything except the casino vibes.

anyone else already book anything and have some thoughts?

From most of the twitter chatter I've seen there is a strong #OccupyFlamingo movement, so you should be in 'good' company. I tend to skip Rio for times when I'm getting together with people on a trip (although like you, I like the rooms there), too much hassle and distance for spur of the moment stuff.

I'm not expecting much for the pool in mid-October, I know it's still in some cases pool season, but one cooler front that comes in would spoil that for me, so I'm looking at Flamingo more due to location then anything.

we are very close to announcing our host hotel for VIMFP, hopefully within the next few weeks. i have made the argument to the property reps that VIMFPers book way way way in advance for our event and having everything locked down as early as possible is in their best interest.

"tapping fingers"

Trying to hold out for official info but have an offer that must be booked before end of the month. Are we any closer to getting the information?

trust me, waiting for this shit to get ironed out is 3x 4x 5x more aggravating for me and the admiral than it is for you. with odds. and cheese.

I'm among those who have already booked at the Flamingo, as the TR rates were too tempting to not take advantage of. Three of my five nights in a FAB Luxury (If given the opportunity to upgrade to a GO Room, I would take it if the price is right.) are comped and the two nights are $115 a night. I could get a cheaper room at the Imperial Palace or Harrah's, but I have never stayed at the Flamingo (I've initially booked there but ended up cancelling them for a better deal elsewhere.). Location-wise, it's hard to beat plus other areas of the Strip are easily accessible via the Monorail.

The TR rates at Rio are tempting and they tempted me when I booked for my trip in December, but I've decided to stay at the Flamingo again, but will keep my options open in case I see a nice rate at Caesars Palace like the one I scored last year for the same weekend.

The pool isn't a make or break thing with me, but if the weather is nice that weekend, I will definitely be spending some time poolside.

Very much looking forward to the VIMFP. Another vote for the Flamingo -Pink is my color! - With O'Shea's gone. I'm still looking for a new gambling home, if Bill's was a Total Rewards facility it would be a good replacement option (sidebar- any word why Bill's still hasn't been rolled into TR?).

I could understand why they didn't do it initially, as much like with the Impotent Palace, when they first acquired the place, it was not expected to be around too long. It's been five years, perhaps it's time to roll them into Total Rewards as well.

I agree with Vespajet, early on I don't think they thought it was going to be around long enough, now I think they are making a mistake in not upgrading it. It's even more puzzling to me that they have Bills featured on their website and given they have a system in place to convert and can do it relatively quickly (PH) it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

We are staying at the Hotel and are likely going to Madonna on Sunday night

I could rant about the 'Bill's not being on TR' thing all day. I was told by a host last year they were months away from converting it...still hasn't happened. I wonder if they're losing play from anyone else because of the lack or TR? I will only play poker there now (poker doesn't really build up any comps anyways)...though it is still one of my favorite places to gamble on the strip.

I have not nailed down my VIMFP hotel plans yet, but I'm going out to Vegas in a week, and the host I talked to said he'd likely be able to get me comped for Ballys or Flamingo for the VIMFP weekend, based on my August'm banking on that. If that falls through, I'll likely be at El Cortez or Rio.
