Where to stay in October?

I have recently returned from a week in Las Vegas and yet again had an absolutely fantastic time. We stayed in Planet Hollywood and was there for the opening of the new Pussycat Lounge. (Opened by Carmen Electra no less!)

We are thinking of going again this year, possibly in October, and wondered whether anyone could recommend another fun hotel to stay in on The Strip.

We've stayed at Luxor, Flamingo, Paris, Harrahs, Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and Imperial Palace and now we're finding it difficult to agree on the next one. Help....

The Mirage is a real fun place and the rooms are really nice- not as expensive as the Bellagio, Cosmo or Wynn though. Very upbeat casino (use to be better before they got rid of the tropical theme) and to me the best pool in Vegas.

Look into the Mirage. You won't regret it.

You've hit most of the mid-priced places on the Strip already by the seems of thing, so if you don't want to pay up for a place like Aria (and think about it, since a basic room can be had for not that much of a premium) and you want to stay on the Strip (you will undoubtedly be hearing from the Downtown partisans soon enough, and with no experience staying Downtown personally I will defer to the experts) your best bet is probably the renovated Tropicana. Definitely looking pretty sharp and the prices are very reasonable.

You might want to consider Monte Carlo. That's my go-to resort when I stay in LV. Very affordable, great location to all the other casinos. From MC, you can walk to NYNY or the MGM Grand or take the tram to Aria and Bellagio.

MC has a few things going on. The Jabbawockeez are performing there. Minus 5 is that bar where you can have a chilling experience. The Pub has about 200 beers on tap, if you're into beers. If you want gourmet fine dining, Andre's is really great. I finally dined there on my last stay. The food and service were excellent. And Andre's has a cigar room if you're in the mood to have a smoke or sip some cognac from their extensive collection.

You said you're planning to visit in October You got plenty of time. Of course, if you signed up for one of the resort's members club, they'll send you lots of email offers which you can't resist. Good luck!

I'll let you know in about 3 weeks if Cosmo is everything everyone is saying...but to answer your question, you gotta give the Bellagio a shot. It's our home away from home (we got married there so it has sentimental value).

It's a little more on the relaxing/sophisticated side, as opposed to the PH which skews to a slightly younger/party crowd.

I would suggest MGM Grand. It's huge ! the rooms aren't that bad... lot's of cool stuff Lions share and Sigma Derby. Plus they have a monorail stop ! Woo hoo. If you're okay paying 22 dollar resort fee I say try it out. I also concur with Tropicana loved it and would stay there again.

I would go with the Trop or MGM Grand. Monte Carlo is smallish but not a bad option.

My suggestion would be Treasure Island or the Mirage. Both nice properties and renovated within a few years. If you are there early October is still pool season so Mirage wins there. South Strip I would recommend MGM Grand or Mandalay Bay. In addition if you have any players cards you should check for reduced rates.

I second this, of the mid-level properties these two are my favorite. I like the north end of the strip and the rooms are very nice. Both properties have some good promotions going on right now too, not sure if they go into October tho.

I have never stayed there but it seems like if you join Treasure Island's mailing list, you can get some crazy rooms offers from them.

When I was looking for my July trip, I saw it as low as $50 per night. Of course, you have to add in the $20 per night resort fee. But $70 a night still seems great for a four-star hotel in a great location in the middle of the Strip.

Early October means the weather should still be nice enough for the pool. I suggest Mandalay Bay or THE Hotel. Had a good stay at THE Hotel last October (mid-October). Weather was decent. Pool still open. Not crowded at all.
