Gaming Sector Stocks In The Shit Can

By and large, investors seem to be bolting from the gaming sector. These are today's closing numbers from the leading gaming operator stocks:

WYNN (Wynn Resorts) $81.35
MGM (MGM Mirage) $33.89
LVS (Las Vegas Sands Corp) $47.44
MPEL (Melco Crown Entertainment LTD) $9.32
Boyd Gaming (BYD) $12.56
Pinnacle Entertainment (PNK) $10.49
Isle of Capri (ISLE) $4.79
Ameristar Casinos (ASCA) $13.82
Riviera Holdings Corp (RIV) $10.17
Trump Entertainment Resorts (TRMP) $1.91

Between gas prices, economic drama and weather in the mid-west... the entire sector is taking a complete beating. MGM at $38 bucks? If the credit market weren't a mess, I'd expect to see someone make a play for this company if it goes below $30.

Yet the companies must be expecting a rebound for this fall. I know that right now you can get room deals in Vegas throughout the summer, but when I try to look for a rate at the beginning of November the room rates are sky high. Even Hooters Hotel is asking $179/night (11/6-11/8) and nicer places are in the $250-$350/night range.

That is way too much money for me, so I ain't going to come to Vegas until the rates get back to realistic for the fall.

Actually Mirage and TI have really good rates around that time. If you go on Mirage's website and use the code RRPV01 (I think that's what it is) you can get a strip view room for right around $100 (give or take $20) a night.

I went to the Mirage site and tried your code. It came back as invalid.

The Mirage website offer has the 3 nights at $189,$261, & $297. So if you have a code good for 11/6 - 11/8 for $100-$120 per night please let me know what it is.

The Riviera is only 79 A night, and they are supposed to have some kick-ass remodeled rooms by then as well.

All of the currently active MGM Mirage coupon codes are here

Here is the Mirage $82/night deal, as with all promos, they only work on certain dates.

Atltrainman replied on Wednesday, 2nd July 2008

Chuck, even some of your codes for the Mirage now come back as invalid. I still haven't found any good deals for the first weekend in November yet. The best deal was the Wynn for $312 per night but that is way above my budget.

Chuckmonster replied on Wednesday, 2nd July 2008

let me know which ones don't work and I'll see what the deal is with that noise.

 RockChickX51 replied on Monday, 7th July 2008

It's R R P V 0 8 (as in ZERO eight, not the letter O)
That's the code. Sorry, I said RRPV01.
